Cops on Feb poll duty yet to be paid

TURA: Several police personnel in Garo Hills who were deputed on election duty in February have not been paid their dues even as some of them have once again been reassigned election duty for the upcoming by-poll to South Tura, sources said.
According to the sources, over 20 personnel from the state force’s Meghalaya Police Radio Organisation were given election work during the February polls.
However, even months after the Assembly elections, they have not received the Travel Allowance (TA) of Rs 7,000 each.
According to some of the aggrieved personnel, they had provided their bank account numbers to the officers after being told they would receive an advance TA but no money was put into their accounts.
Some of them have been enlisted for by-poll duty and they are apprehensive about a similar fate this time.
