TURA: The United A’chik Youth Federation (UAYF) from South West Khasi Hills has urged the MeECL to upgrade the supply of power to border villages beginning from Mawplun to Maheshkhola village in South West Khasi Hills.
The federation submitted a letter to the MeECL highlighting the plight of the locals facing problems such as damaged or outdated transformers, shortage of authorised linesmen, power theft by certain individuals and location of power pillars in jungle areas leading to creepers covering the power lines resulting in short circuit.
The federation also informed that due to the absence of systematic equipment for bill collection, villagers were facing problems in producing electricity bill receipts for different official purposes.
The federation on behalf of the affected villagers appealed to the officials to look into the matter and take necessary steps to solve the problem.
