SHILLONG: The battle for the forthcoming by-poll to Ranikor and South Tura is building up with all political parties in the state starting their campaign in the two constituencies.

Talking to media persons here on Thursday,  senior leader of NPP, Prestone Tynsong said that   as far as South Tura is concerned, “ We will make sure that the Chief Minister sails through in the elections and all coalition partners are united on this.”

He also said that the party would sit down soon to discuss about the elections even as he informed that the party leaders were already on the ground in Tura for the campaign.

On the other hand, Chief Minister, Conrad Sangma on Thursday told reporters that he has already started his campaigning for the by polls

“ I have other responsibility as well, so after finishing my work,   I  will be back to Tura and we are hoping for the best,” Sangma said .

With regards to by poll in Ranikor, Tynsong said that MM Danggo who resigned recently from the Assembly and Congress party would  also sail through in the by-poll  adding there is no unity among  the opposition and their votes will be divided.

He also alleged that   Ranikor was far behind in comparison to Ampati because of  former Chief Minister, Mukul Sangma  who he did not help Ranikor even when he was the Chief Minister for eight years
