SHILLONG: Adviser of Seng Khasi Hima Mawsynram, Disparsing Rani claimed that the president of the organisation, Tyllilang Myrthong placed his objection to the Governor of the state on the KHAD (Khasi Social Custom of Lineage) (Second Amendment) Bill, 2018 without the knowledge of the organisation.

Addressing a press conference on Thursday, Rani said that Myrthong bypassed the standard procedure of the organisation which is unacceptable prompting Rani to quit the post of adviser of the organisation.

In the letter to the Governor on August 1, Myrthong stated that the new proposed inserted section 3 (d) is in violation of fundamental rights guaranteed to the citizens of the country.

Completely disagreeing with Myrthong, Rani said “It is an ideal bill to protect the interest of the indigenous community.”
