District level inter school football tourney

SHILLONG: A total of eight matches were played at the District Level Inter School Football Tournament (Subroto Mukherjee Cup) on Friday. In the U-17 girl’s category, Unitarian Progressive Higher Secondary School defeated St. Mary’s Higher Secondary School 3-1 in a tiebreaker and Umthli Higher Secondary School beat Area Laikyntoit Secondary School 4-0. The two teams will now face off against each other in the finals. In the U-14 boy’s category, United Christian Secondary School defeated Iewrynghep 4-3 in a tiebreaker and Mizo Presbyterian Secondary School beat OM Roy Memorial Higher Secondary School 5-4. They will face either H Elias Higher Secondary School or Umpohliew Jingtip Higher Secondary School in the semi-finals. In the U-17 boy’s category, St. Anthony’s Higher Secondary school defeated Area Laikyntoit Secondary School 4-2, Shillong Vidyalaya School outclassed St. Paul’s Higher Secondary School 4-0 and Sacred Heart Boys Higher Secondary School beat Rusa School 2-0 while OM Roy Memorial Higher Secondary School demolished Pynthorumkhrah, Golf Secondary School 5-0.
