HSPDP-UDP meet tomorrow over support for Marwein

SHILLONG: The Regional Democratic Alliance will meet on Monday and the UDP’s central executive committee will meet the next day to discuss about Ranikor by-poll.
HSPDP is part of the alliance and UDP expects that the former will support its candidate Pius Marwein, who filed his nomination papers on Friday.
UDP leader Jemino Mawthoh said the alliance meeting will focus on supporting Marwein.
The UDP central executive committee will met o Tuesday to chalk out a strategy for the by-poll.
Mawthoh said all UDP ministers, MLAs and party functionaries would “aggressively campaign for Marwein” and that leaders from different political parties are supporting him.
“There is a lot of enthusiasm in the party this time and the candidate has worked very hard,” he added.
The last for filing nominations is August 6 and the date of scrutiny of nominations is August 7. The last date for withdrawal of candidature is August 9.
Meanwhile, Mawthoh also informed that the party will go all out to support Conrad Sangma in South Tura by-poll.
