TURA: The Garo Hills Catholic Union, Tura Diocese has strongly condemned the recent order given by Union Minister, Maneka Gandhi to initiate inquiry into all centres and institutions run by the Missionaries of Charity in India.

The order was given following a news report in which a certain missionary sister, belonging to the Missionaries of Charity (Nirmal Hriday) in Ranchi was accused of prime involvement in a child trafficking case.

The union, while condemning the unfortunate incident of the alleged trafficking, has urged the central government to intervene and revoke the order given by the minister.

“It will be unlawful and inhumane from the side of the Government to disturb the peaceful co-existence. Therefore, we sincerely would like to request the Central Government for intervention and revoke the order,” it said.
