TURA: Local bodies from Dalu and its adjoining areas from both West and South Garo Hills have expressed strong opposition to the setting up of any more wine stores (IMFL) at Barengapara and Chaipani areas.

Organizations like the AYWO and GHSMC from Dalu and Mothers’ Union from both Dalu and Dimapara on Wednesday submitted a complaint to the West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner urging that no more licenses for the opening of wine stores are given for the two areas.

The opposition by the organizations comes after it was allegedly learnt from reliable sources that fresh licenses were going to be issued for the said areas.

“There are sufficient wine stores in the area and we do not need anymore. We request you not to grant anymore licenses for the area,” the organizations said in their complaint to the DC.
