SHILLONG: The High Level Committee constituted by the state government in June to find a solution to the Punjabi Lane impasse has directed the Shillong Municipal Board to restart inventory survey in the colony.
Talking to media persons after the meeting of the HLC, chairman of the Committee Prestone Tynsong said, “The government is very much concerned about the employees who have been staying in the area for the past many years.”
Altogether 128 employees of the civic board are staying in the colony.
Earlier during the survey conducted by SMB, most of the houses in the colony were locked.
Tynsong said the committee has directed departments concerned to furnish more documents relating to the matter.
“We will have the next meeting after all the documents are furnished by the departments,” he said and added that departments like the Directorate of Land Record and Survey, Urban Affairs, Municipal Board and the Hima Mylliem have been asked to give further inputs.
Refusing to comment further on the sub-judice matter, the deputy chief minister reiterated that the panel “wants to ensure that the task entrusted to us by the government is completed”.
