Mission Football Tournament to be held in Mawkyrwat
MAWKYRWAT: The office of the District Sports Officer, South West Khasi Hills District will conduct the Mission Football Open South West Khasi Hills District Tournament, 2018, for Under-15 & Under-18 for both Boys & Girls for Ranikor and Mawkyrwat Block from September 3 and 8 onwards respectively. District Sports Officer, PB War Nongbri said that the tournament would be culminated at the District Level on September 20-21, 2018 at MDSA Stadium, Mawkyrwat and at the State Level from September 23-29, 2018 at Polo Ground, Shillong.For Ranikor Block, entries should be submitted to the office of the Block Development Officer at Ranikor during office hours while for Mawkyrwat Block, the same should be submitted at the office of the DSO on or before August 28, 2018
MLP beat Lajong 1-0 in Shillong Premiere League
SHILLONG: MLP defeated Shillong Lajong by a solitary goal on Thursday in the ongoing Shillong Premier League at the JN Stadium in Shillong. Kevin Kharbuli took a shot from inside the box in the 49th minute to give MLP the lead. Shillong Lajong fought very hard and had many chances at goal especially in the second session of the match but couldn’t capitalise on their chances. Lajong have three points from two games and will need to deliver a much better performance in their third SPL game against Langsning on the August 18 at JN Stadium.
M’laya State Level Kickboxing Championship concludes
SHILLONG: The 21st Meghalaya State Level Kickboxing Championship, 2018 organised successfully by the Meghalaya Association of Kickboxing Organisations (MAKO) on August 2 and 3, 2018 at Community Hall Laitkor Mawrie Lumheh, Shillong -10. The Championship was graced by Shri.L.Arun Mawrie, Chairman Dorbar Laitkor Pyllun. About 200 participants took part in the above mentioned Championship from East Khasi Hills, Ri-Bhoi District,West Jaintia Hills District, North Garo Hills District and West Khasi Hills District. The Team Champion Trophy was bagged by the East Khasi Hills District followed by Ri-bhoi District and the Third place was bagged by the North Garo Hills District.
Screening and selection for Women U-19 cricket team
SHILLONG: The screening cum Selection for Women under 19 Meghalaya cricket team will be held on 11th August 11, 2018 at 10 am at the Cricket Grounds Polo and Alotgre Cricket Ground Tura for Khasi, Jaintia and Bhoi Districts and Garo Hills Districts respectively. Players need to bring related documents in original along with their playing kits.
Marathon runner Nitendra Singh arrives for Shillong 10-k Run
SHILLONG: On his maiden visit to Shillong, Indian marathon runner Nitendra Singh Rawat from Uttaranchal has arrived to take part in the Shillong Run -10 km on Saturday at Parking Lot, Polo. Addressing a press conference on Thursday, Rawat said, “It is my first time in Shillong and I the rain welcomed me. I am excited about the Shillong run.”Stating that he mostly concentrates on running in plain areas, he said running up and down hilly terrains would be a tough task for him.The Shillong Run is the eighth edition which will be held in the city.
