SHILLONG: Former deputy chief minister Rowell Lyngdoh is confident that the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance government will complete its full term “provided they continue to work together”.
Speaking to reporters in the city recently, the former Congress leader did not rule out challenges, like the cry for NRC and public agitation, in the coalition’s way.
Lyngdoh predicted that the Congress will not come back to power for 5-10 years in the state as well as at the Centre because “people are not satisfied with the central leadership and most of the Congress leaders preferred Sonia Gandhi to Rahul as the leader”.
“Even at the state level, there is no leader whom they (the people) can trust and the Congress avoided many good leaders like Salseng Marak and because of the partiality which it (the party) adopted, it is being affected,” he added.
Asked about his decision to leave the Congress for NPP, Lyngdoh said he loved the party but the leaders who were running the Congress that time wanted to oust him.
Talking about his plans, Lyngdoh said he would not contest election again but would be active in politics as long as he can move to support other leaders.
