SHILLONG: There is restriction on uploading the proceedings in the High Court of Meghalaya by petitioners on social media.
The matter figured on Monday when the Division Bench of the court comprising Chief Justice Mohammad Yaqoob Mir and Judge SR Sen took up the petition filed by Nilberth Ch Marak and others regarding the alleged scam in the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council.
The petitioners had filed a PIL alleging misuse of over Rs 100-crore central fund by GHADC during the tenure of Denang Sangma as the CEM.
During the hearing of the case, the concern of the counsel for the respondents was that the petitioners are uploading the proceedings on social media giving rise to acrimonious situation but the same was taken care of as the counsel for petitioners assured that uploading will be stopped.
The matter will come up again for hearing after four weeks.
The counsel for the petitioners will also file an affidavit on behalf of the petitioners wherein it will be clearly stated that petitioners are having sound financial position to bear any cost, if imposed.
