GUWAHATI: Country’s 72nd Independence Day was celebrated at the Indian Army’s elite and world renowned Counter Insurgency Jungle Warfare (CIJW) School at Vairengte in Mizoram with great patriotism and fervor on Tuesday. The function was attended by the Army veterans from Mizoram as well as the prominent civil society leaders, Veer Naris, local citizens and children of Vairengte, according to a defence communiqué.
The event included the honouring and unfurling of the National Flag by the Officiating Commandant which was followed by felicitation of the Veer Naris. The ceremony was followed by a weapons and equipments display, visit to the Information & Research Centre and Motivation Hall.
The local youth and children were so motivated by the display and they exhibited their exuberance to join armed forces to serve the nation. The event also included extending medical facilities to the veterans. Towards the end of the function, the Station Staff briefed the veterans on the latest benefits extended by the Government and Indian Army and thanked them for their contribution to uplift the widows and underprivileged.
The CIJW School continues to extend full support for any social initiatives by ESM and local administration in Lailapur ( Assam), Vairengte and Kolasib in Mizoram.
