TURA: South Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner, H B Marak on Tuesday launched the district level Swachh Survekshan Grameen 2018 in the presence of Executive Engineer (PHE), A D Sangma, officers from line Department and other stake holders here at DRDA Conference Hall in Baghmara.
Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner urged upon the people to take Swachhata as a part of culture and to maintain cleanliness as their daily activity and not just for the sake of winning any kind of award or incentives. He also called upon the people to cooperate and support the government in their efforts to make clean India before Gandhiji’s 150th birthday next year.
Earlier, Executive Engineer (PHE), A D Sangma in his introductory address informed the gathering about the campaign and said that “The ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation (MDWS) has commissioned ” Swachh Survekshan Grameen 2018″ to provide National ranking of all the 698 Districts of India on the basis of quantitative and qualitative Sanitation (swachhata) parametres. He added that an independent agency has been hired by the ministry and the agency will visit the village within the month of August to undertake the survey of public places, schools Anganwadi centres, Public Health Centres, bazaars etc., and obtain citizens feedback on maintaining total cleanliness of those areas.
Meanwhile, it may also be mentioned that the awareness campaign about the SSG-2018 will be started shortly in all the four blocks of the District of South Garo Hills.
