SHILLONG: HS Shylla expressed surprise over the previous executive committee led by PN Syiem with regard to the work on Wahkaji-Mawthabah and Umdohlun-Phlangdiloin roads amounting to Rs 5.80 crore.
Addressing reporters on Tuesday, the CEM said, “I fail to understand that repair work in which only sand and soil were used to cover the road, can it amount to Rs 4.5 crore?”
He informed that Executive Member in-charge of Buildings Donkupar Sumer will conduct an inquiry into the misappropriation of money.
“Only 20 per cent of the work is done whereas the amount of money released for the road is 70 per cent,” Shylla said.
He added that the amount sanctioned for Wahkaji-Phlangdiloin is Rs 4 crore and more than Rs 1 crore for Wahkaji-Mawthabah whereas the money withdrawn was Rs 4.5 crore.
Shylla added that KHADC will not continue with the repairing work of the roads.
