SHILLONG: To mark the spirit of 72nd Independence day, and as a part of celebrating this auspicious day a basketball tournament titled Independence Cup was conducted by the office of the Deputy Commissioner and District Sports Officer, East Jaintia, along with East Jaintia Hills District basketball association concluded on August 15.
In the male category, United FC and Jaintia Eastern College won the tournament. In the Football (under-15 boys) Rymbai YSWO won the title, by defeating Khliehriat Higher Secondary school by 1-0.
The second edition of Independence Cup was held through the Scheme Chief minister youth Development scheme (CMYDS).
