M’laya yet to reach out to locals in Kerala

SHILLONG: Meghalaya is yet to enquire about the safety of state residents in flood-affected Kerala.
There are many students and job seekers from the North East, including Meghalaya, in the southern state.
When contacted, additional chief secretary PW Ingty said on Sunday the government will contact Kerala officials to enquire about the safety of state residents there.
The Assam Revenue and Disaster Management Department has already opened two helplines for those from the state trapped in the flood.
The Assam government on Sunday announced financial aid of Rs 3 crore to Kerala, the contribution of Manipur to the flood relief is Rs 2 crore and Nagaland chief minister has announced a financial package of Rs 1 crore.
Meghalaya is yet to announce any relief package for Kerala.
