EJH DC launches rural cleanliness drive

SHILLONG: The Swachh Survekshan Gramin was launched in East Jaintia Hills on Tuesday by F.M. Dopth, Deputy Commissioner cum chairman of District Swachh Bharat Mission Gramin.
The programme was held at the District Headquarter in presence of the Sub Divisional Officer PHE Khliehriat R. Kynjing, district coordinator, block coordinator, staff of DSBM (G) and PHE staff.
Speaking on the occasion, DC said that the district as a whole strive towards bringing proper hygiene and safe sanitation, adding “Cleanliness is a social responsibility of each and every individual.”
The survey team will undertake a sampling survey of selected villages in which samples of households, schools, anganwadi centres, churches, market places and public places would be visited to assess their cleanliness status. Besides, citizen’s feedbacks will also be taken and would be added to the overall findings of the survey.
Top performing districts will be given National Awards on October 2 by the Prime Minister.
