SHILLONG: The ongoing beautification of the Polo area in the city has slowed down due to monsoon.
Cabinet Minister and local legislator AL Hek admitted that work has slowed down but the project is on track and the contractor has been asked to expedite the task.
As per the plan, the Rs 9-crore beautification project will have a rotary, high mast lights and other utilities.
The project will also include construction of a parking lot and expansion of the road, Hek informed.
Meanwhile, the health minister said Golf Link has seen positive changes after the hawkers were accommodated in his building. “Now there is no traffic jam, the area has become clean and hawkers are also selling their eatable items in a hygienic condition,” Hek added.
