Vajpayee ashes brought to city

SHILLONG: The Asthi Kalash (urn containing ashes) of former Prime Minister late Atal Bihari Vajpayee arrived in the city on Thursday and has been kept in the BJP office.
Before arriving in the city, the ashes were brought from Guwahati and kept for some time at the party office at Nongpoh.
The BJP office will remain open on Friday from 10 am to 4 pm for the citizens to pay homage to the late leader. An all faith prayer meeting has been organised from 4 pm to 5 pm.
A BJP statement said leaders and members of all political parties are welcome to pay their tribute to Vajpayee at 5:30 pm.
The ashes will be immersed in Umshyrpi river, Rilbong on Saturday.
