GUWAHATI: The Garo girl who was gang raped in Goalpara on Thursday night was only 15 years, police have confirmed.
Goalpara deputy superintendent of police Aziza Gulenur said on Saturday three persons have been arrested in connection with the case.
“She was brought to Tukura village (under Agia police station in Goalpara district) by her boyfriend and is believed to have been gang raped. We are still awaiting the medical report,” the DSP told The Shillong Times on Saturday.
The minor girl hails from Boko and is from the Garo community. According to police, she was working as a domestic help in Guwahati and is currently under medical care.
“We are conducting further investigation into the case,” she said.
The girl came to Tukura Part-III village in Goalpara to celebrate Eid with her friend.
Instead of taking her to his friend’s house as promised, the man took her to a field. He and three of his friends then raped the girl.
The teenager’s friend works in a private company in Guwahati.
The girl was reportedly drugged before being gang-raped.
