SHILLONG: The Chief Executive Member (CEM) of Khasi Hill Autonomous District Council (KHADC), HS Shylla said the consultative committee would sit for a meeting on Tuesday after the state government returned the Khasi Social Custom of Lineage (First and Second Amendment) Bills.

“The government has returned the Bills and we thank the government for not delaying it. The consultative committee will not take much time,” he said adding that Bill for clans will also be prepared.

According to him, the consultative meetings will sit for 3-4 times to complete the work as he said that the committee would only rectify certain sections in the Bill.

Commenting on the non-inclusion of third gender in the Bill which is recognised by the Central government, Shylla said, “We don’t recognise them (the third gender), we only recognise male and female.”
