NIA court convicts 4 NDFB militants in Assam massacre case

GUWAHATI:  A special National Investigation Agency (NIA) court on Wednesday convicted four National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) militants in a  December 23, 2014 massacre case in Assam.

The convicted militants are:  Sanju  Bordoloi alias  Sibigiri, Bishnu Narzary alias N Berema, Ahoy Basumutary alias B Bujumbura and Nitul Daimary alias D Naihab.

The exact quantum of punishment for the convicts will be pronounced on September 7, an NIA release said here.

The judgement was delivered in a case registered by the NIA on the killing of six persons and injury of two others in indiscriminate firing resorted to by the convicted militants in Santipur village, under Rakhakmari police outpost of Sonitpur district of Assam on December 23, 2014.

The charge sheet in the case was filed by the NIA on July 7, 2015.
