MeECL staff on duty assaulted

NONGPOH: The MeECL Joint Action Committee condemned the high-handedness of miscreants involved in manhandling the engineers, staff and also damaging the property of the Meghalaya Power Distribution Corporation Limited (MePDCL) in Byrnihat on Tuesday.
Arju Dkhar, general secretary of the MeECL JAC, in a statement issued on Wednesday said the officials and staff of MeECL were assaulted by miscreants. The workers were working late night to restore the faulty power distribution lines damaged by the cyclonic storm recently.
The JAC further demanded the arrest of culprits involved, failing which, the JAC may be compelled to agitate. Further, the District Administration had also ensured that such incident does not occur in the future, the statement said.
