GUWAHATI: Assam police will file the charge-sheet on September 1 in a Diphu court in the case related to the June 8 mob-lynching of two youths from Guwahati —Abhijeet Nath and Nilotpal Das – at Panjuri Kachari, a remote village under Dokmoka police station in Karbi Anglong district of Assam.
Police informed that a voluminous charge-sheet has been prepared by Karbi Anglong Superintendent of Police, Shibprasad Ganjewalla. Police have arrested total 48 persons in connection with mob lynching of the two talented youths that shocked the entire nation.
The mob had suspected the youth to be child lifters in the wake of rumours being circulated on social media. Abhijeet Nath and Nilotpal Das were on way back to Guwahati from a spot they had gone to visit in a Mahindra Scorpio when they were intercepted and accosted by a mob at around 8 pm.
There were more than 200 people in the mob as told by members of the village defence party who police about 40 minutes after the incident.
