SHILLONG: Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong has “strongly” supported the idea of a common candidate for the Shillong parliamentary seat in the upcoming Lok Sabha election.
Tynsong said on Friday the idea mooted by UDP president Donkupar Roy would be discussed in details by all the partners of the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA).
In fact, he was for common candidates for both Tura and Shillong parliamentary seats but “the party is yet to discuss this issue” and the matter would be discussed at the party and the alliance levels because “we will need to have proper modalities to decide on the common candidate”.
Roy had said on Thursday that UDP was in favour of a common candidate.
