SHILLONG: The employees of Uranium Corporation of India (UCIL) have listed their demands following the closure of its office in the city.
The staff here said they were disappointed over the shutdown of the office. Also, there was no assurance from the management on their future, they claimed.
The UCIL office was “temporarily” shut down on Friday. The staff told The Shillong Times, “The amount of money spent by UCIL here in the state for one year should be given to us as compensation. Where will we go? We are overage. Since it is closed from today, we will be sitting at home.”
“We want the UCIL management to consider something for us also. We are still confused as they are not declaring it clearly- on what basis are they shutting the office temporarily? Whether it will be reopened, we don’t even know,” the employees said.
The staff also bemoaned that the UCIL authorities on their visit to Shillong did not find any solution to their problems.
