SHILLONG: The Defense authorities have denied the allegation of a youth, who was arrested with drugs in his possession that the main source of the drugs is the campus of the Assam Regimental Centre (ARC) from where suppliers run this illegal trade.
The Defence PRO said that the Assam Regimental Centre has a specific task of training youths who are willing to join the Indian Army and there is no truth in such allegations.
The youth – a drug user turned small time dealer – was apprehended by KSU members from Upper Shillong and Lummawbah on Thursday night. He had claimed before the media that they used to get the supply (heroin) from some persons by the name of Michael and Rose, who claimed to be a wife of an ex-army man, from ARC Happy Valley. The drugs were supplied to them at the rate of Rs 3,000 – 4,000 per golden tin container for sale in Upper Shillong.
