TURA: The All A’chik Youth Welfare Society (AAYWS) from Tura has strongly condemned the alleged assault on a civilian by police at Songsak in East Garo Hills, leading to his death a few days later.

Recently, a police team led by in-charge, N Nongkhlaw of Dagal Outpost under Songsak PS had taken in one, Hillary Marak, a teacher of St Joseph Secondary School from a roadside for creating a nuisance. He was later released but died a few days later.

“The act of taking away a life even if he has committed a crime is very serious. This is a human rights’ violation and we strongly condemn it,” the AAYWS said.
