SHILLONG: NPP leader MM Danggo has said he would take a decision on hanging his boots after discussing with his supporters.
Danggo, who lost the Ranikor by-poll to a greenhorn, was replying to questions about his retirement from politics.
The leader said he had promised the people of Ranikor to create civil sub-division and after it was done, people wanted him to continue and so he decided to contest the election.
Denying that it was a wrong decision to switch over to NPP from the Congress, the veteran politician admitted that it was an unexpected result but he “accepts the verdict of the people”. Danggo said initially he was in a comfortable position “but something went wrong” and “we have to analyse it”.
“I was expecting that after sacrificing my seat and bringing sub division, people would reward me but I will not blame them for their verdict,” he said and added that he would try to serve the people in the constituency though he was not an MLA.When asked about the Congress, Danggo asserted that the party aggressively contested the election by placing their MLAs in different parts of the constituency “probably to defeat me”.
