GUWAHATI: The team on Indian Navy divers have launched search operation in Dikhow River in Sivasagar in search of the car that skidded  off the embankment into the river with five members of a family on Saturday night.

The Navy divers have been brought from Visakhapatnam to assist the search operation that was started on September 2 morning by NDRF and SDRF personnel and joined by Army divers on September 3 morning. The search so far has failed to trace the swift dezire car of Haren Bora from Guwahati, who was driving his family members — his mother, wife, and two daughters –in it.

The car skidded of the river embankment and plunged in to the river at Dechial village in Sivasagar district. Dikhow river is a major tributary of Brahmaputra River in Assam.

The Navy divers who were  airlifted to the spot on Monday, started the search operation at about two kilometers away from the spit where the car had plunged into the river.
