Guv asks people to serve nation

SHILLONG: Governor Tathagata Roy urged the public to dedicate themselves to the service of the nation and concentrate on performing their duties as the teachings of Lord Krishna say.
Speaking at the Janmasthami celebrations organised by Bharat Sevashram Sangha’s Shillong branch on Tuesday, the governor said he has a long association with Bharat Sevashram Sangha since his youth even as he praised the Sangha for its dedicated service and highlighted special aspects of the organisation towards humanitarian services.
Bharat Sevashram Sangha is a premier philanthropic organisation located in Jail Road. The organisation works for spiritual uplift and humanitarian activities.
The organisation provides free meals everyday to the unprivileged and the downtrodden. The focal point is education for students belonging to a humble background. Relief work during the time of distress is a major focus of the organization along with the dedicated medical services.
The organisation has a well established medical unit in the premises which provides medical services to the unprivileged.
