SHILLONG: Time and again, people especially women and young girls in the state continued to be bullied in social media such as Facebook and Whatsapp. Another such case has come to the light in the state where an active group ‘Na Lyngwiar Dpei u Hynniewtrep’ posted photograph of a young girl accompanied by hateful and racial comment

A woman lodged a complaint that on September 1, she detected one Facebook account wherein an active group ‘Na Lyngwiar Dpei u Hynniewtrep’ posted one photograph of her daughter accompanied by hateful and racial comment with intention to defame and tarnish her image.

This is not the first time in Shillong where a young girl had been bullied by such groups in Facebook as earlier to. Many young girls in the state have been harassed in social media.

Earlier, this year, a case was reported when miscreants uploaded the photographs of a woman with her husband along with an explicit sex video which was circulated on social networking sites.

The miscreants tried to insinuate that the woman was the female seen in the said video.

Earlier, even many woman activists in Shillong   were bullied over the social media and though time and again there has been a call to keep such groups away from harassing women, so far the Police Department is yet to take strict action against such groups.
