Talks on building progressive society held at Puriang

Shillong: A one day special interactive programme on the theme ‘Doing our bit, towards building a progressive society’ was organised by the Office of the Assistant Director of Information and Public Relations, East Khasi Hills in collaboration with the Social Service Centre (Life Project) and the Archbishop’s House at Puriang village in Mawryngkneng on Friday.
The programme was chaired by Bantei Mukhim, Sordar, Puriang village in the presence of Fr. Bernard Laloo, Director, SSC, P. S. Lyngdoh, Assistant Director of Information and Public Relations, East Khasi Hills, villagers and SHG members of of Puriang and adjoining villages.
Commerce and Industries, Horticulture, Agriculture and Animal Husbandry and Veterinary departments took part in the interactive sessions.
Speaking on the occasion, PS Lyngdoh, Assistant Director of Information and Public Relations said that the main objective of the programme is to provide a platform for the officers to highlight the activities, projects and schemes of the department and to facilitate direct interaction between government officials and people at the village level. He also urged the villagers and the SHG members to make full use of this programme and to clear their doubts and misunderstandings.
Resource persons present included AD Nongbri, Assistant Director of Horticulture, P Iawim, ADO, D Dkhar, AH&VO, L Khongrymmai and A Mawlong, IPO who gave a power point presentation on the various schemes available under their respective departments.
During the programme, the Office of the Assistant Director of Information and Public Relations, East Khasi Hills also put up a poster campaign centered on the negative effects of eve-teasing.
