MAWKYRWAT: The UDP Mawkyrwat circle has got a shot in the arm after the party’s victory in the Ranikor by-poll.

Circle president, Anvil Lyngdoh, said on Friday the by-poll result has changed the mindset of people and “many from Mawkyrwat are willing to join the party”.) “People are seeing a ray of hope and even the youths here are willing to join politics because the newly elected MLA is not only young but also dynamic,” he said.
UDP’s Pius Marwein, the 27-year-old greenhorn, had defeated five-time MLA MM Danggo.
“UDP supporters here feel that it is high time for the party to nominate a candidate for the upcoming 2019 district council election as UDP has gained momentum throughout the constituency. It is a win-win situation for the party,” Lyngdoh said, adding that under his leadership, the party would be strengthened at the grassroots level to prepare for the upcoming council and Lok Sabha elections.
