SHILLONG: Former chief minister Mukul Sangma has vacated his bungalow that was supposed to be handed over to ministers of the present MDA government.
GAD Minister Comingone Ymbon said Mukul has shifted to Sherwood bungalow that was earlier occupied by former chief minister DD Lapang.
Ymbon said Zenith Sangma, who was allotted a bungalow in Motinagar, has started shifting his belongings and within a few days, he will move out of the official bungalow.
When asked if there is any mechanism to ensure that former ministers leave allotted bungalows immediately after the formation new government, Ymbon said, “There are no mechanisms but all former ministers are usually expected to vacate their houses within two-three months of the formation of the new government.”
The chief minister is staying in his own house at 4th Mile, Upper Shillong, and now as the official bungalow is vacated, he is likely to move in.
Earlier, there were also reports that even Education Minister Lahkmen Rymbui had to stay in a rented house since the government bungalow allotted to him was occupied by Zenith.
