China says it will help Pakistan to fight terror

Islamabad: Days after the high level US delegation visited South Asia including India, China on Sunday lauded Pakistan as an “important developing country” in the region and said Beijing will support support Islamabad in its fights against terrorism.
“It is a country (Pakistan) with particular influence in the Islamic world and international and regional affairs. At the same time, Pakistan is also participating in international fight against terrorism. We shall support Pakistan in its fights against terrorism, socio-economic development and in developing relations with the neighboring countries,” the visiting Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi told reporters at a joint media interaction with Pakistani counterpart Shah Mahmood Qureshi.
“Over the years, Pakistan has made unlimited efforts to fight against terrorism. Pakistan’s sacrifices deserve full recognition by the international community,” he said. He further said China welcomes countries in engaging in communication and with Pakistan.
China also supports the US in developing mutually beneficial relationship with Pakistan on the basis of mutual respect. “We believe that China and the US along-with international community should support the new Pakistan government,” he said. For his part, Qureshi said: “Economic relations are very important component of bilateral relations between China and Pakistan. (UNI)
