SHILLONG: With the setback of the Congress in the northeastern states following the victory of BJP and its allies in the Assembly elections, the North East Congress Coordination Committee will meet on October 16 to discuss the strategy for future polls.
The meeting is likely to be held in Imphal.
The AICC general secretary in-charge Meghalaya, Luizinho Faleiro, told reporters on Sunday that the process of revamping the party in Meghalaya was on.
Faleiro has already written to the state party functionaries to hold meetings at the booth, block, district and state levels to strengthen the party.
“The Congress will go back to the roots to have a strong and robust set-up. We are coming up with a road map for strengthening the organisational set-up in the North East,” Faleiro said.
He also stressed the need to have unity and discipline among the party functionaries.
There were media reports about the passivity of state Congress leaders following the defeat of the party in the February 27 Assembly polls.
However, the AICC leader said the revival of the party is on the cards and it was only a matter of time to bounce back.
