SHILLONG: The general council of the Hill State People’s Democratic Party (HSPDP), East Khasi Hills Branch, is likely to be held in the first week of October, aimed at strengthening and widening the activities of the party in the District.
This was discussed in a meeting of the leaders and party workers of HSPDP, EKH Branch, which was held in the city recently.
In a statement issued, Party chief organiser and MLA/MDC, Samlin Malniang, called upon the need to have full-fledged office bearers and members.
After a thorough discussion, the meeting unanimously decided to constitute an Adhoc body, District Committee headed by Martle N. Mukhim as president.
Malniang and Mylliem MDC Teilinia Thangkhiew will be the ex-officio members of the committee and it has also been decided that they should give support and contribution for the organisation of the party in the district.
Speaking to reporters on Monday, Mukhim said he yearns to strengthen the regional political parties in the state and will attempt ways and means to bring the regional political forces together.
He added that the alliance of UDP and HSPDP should be dedicated to achieve the goal.
Speaking of the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA), Mukhim who was also a former Minister said, “The MDA government is much better than the previous one.”
