SHILLONG: The Khun Hynniewtrep National Awakening Movement (KHNAM), Shillong Youth Wing (SYW) demanded for inspection of all water sources and reservoirs in the state by the authorities.

In the wake of the incident at Nongkseh, president of KHNAM youth wing, Thomas Passah in a statement issued here raised issues of safety and security of the water reservoirs in the state which should be properly guarded.

He pointed to the Section 17(1) (a) of Water Act,  which stated that the State Board should ensure prevention, control and abatement of water sources in the state.

The KHNAM youth wing condemned the incident at Nongkseh in which miscreants threw mobil-oil at the water reservoir on Monday.
