Abducted elderly returns home from B’desh

SHILLONG: A 67-year-old man from West Garo Hills who was abducted by a Bangladesh gang in May this year was handed over to Meghalaya police in Dawki on Tuesday night.
Meghalaya DGP R Awasthi confirmed that Phalgun Arengh was handed over at the Dawki border check point by Bangladeshi authorities and he was accordingly sent for medicinal examination.
When asked if he would be questioned, the DGP refused to share any details.
Arengh was kidnapped on May 24 from Hagimara village near the border in West Garo Hills by a criminal group from Bangladesh.
He was sent to Dawki CHC for medical checkup where he was declared fit and healthy. His relatives received him. IC Purakhasia was also there.
