SHILLONG: The closing ceremony of the year long Diamond Jubilee Celebrations of Auxilium Girls ‘ Higher Secondary School, Nongthymmai was held on Thursday.
Chief Minister Conrad Sangma attended the event along with Education Minister Lahkmen Rymbui, local MLA Charles Pyngrope and East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner PS Dkhar in the presence of Mother Provincial of Shillong Province Sr. Isabella Suja, teachers and students.
In his address Chief Minister Conrad Sangma said that education is the catalyst of change and the government is giving importance to education to ensure that quality education is imparted to the students in the state. He also said that an educated youth is the biggest asset of the state and the country and that the teachers need to guide them and channelize their energy in the right direction.
Stating that education is not just about school, Sangma said that education is a complete eco system, adding that “we are not here simply to educate the children but we are here to shape and mould students, we are here to take forward, we are here to change lives of our young children and it is about getting responsible citizens for our country”.
Sangma also lauded the past and the present principal and teaching faculties for their selfless dedication to give the best education to the students of the school.
Earlier, the School Management System was inaugurated by local MLA Charles Pyngrope. The School Management System was developed to store data relating to the school with an aim for better info management.
Other highlights of the day included the release of the Diamond Jubilee Souvenir by the Chief Minister including various performances by the students. Sr. Joplin Suchiang, Principal delivered the welcome address while Sr. Theresa Phawa, Vice Principal proposed the vote of thanks.
