Mominin wants teachers’ recruitment after diploma course results declared

SHILLONG: Phulbari MLA and chairman of the Meghalaya Forest Development Corporation, S G Esmatur Mominin has asked the Education Minister Lahkmen Rymbui to start the process of recruitment of teachers in LP and UP schools after the final result of Diploma in Elementary Education batch of 2017-18 is declared or the students undergoing the course of Diploma in Elementary Education may be allowed to apply for the recruitment.

‌In a memorandum, Mominin said that recruitment for the posts will be based on National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) norms and as per the norms, an applicant must have secured 50/45 percent in higher secondary examination along with Diploma in Elementary Education for Primary Schools and for Graduation with 50/45 per cent in Upper Primary Schools.

According to Mominin, lot of students, are appearing in Diploma in Elementary Education examination and students would be able to clear their examination next year only.

‘If the recruitment process starts now, almost all the students especially in plain belt of Garo Hills will not be eligible to apply for the posts, he said.

Mominin said that the minister had assured that the students who were undergoing Diploma in Elementary Education will be given an opportunity and even if they were cleared by the Selection Board, they would be appointed only after they completed their Diploma in Elementary Education.
