SHILLONG: Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma inaugurated the new building and the higher secondary section of St Joseph’s School, Pynthorumkhrah, on Friday.
Education Minister Lahkmen Rymbui, Health Minister and local MLA AL Hek, local MDC James Ban Basaiawmoit, Rev. Dr Fr Ioannis War Pakma, Parish Priest and Secretary Managing Committee of the School, were among the dignitaries present at the programme.
The chief minister said the primary objective of education is to transform lives of students and make them responsible citizens. “Education is the passport for the future of our young generations,” he added.
The chief minister also reminded that passing out from schools and colleges and getting degrees are no longer enough.
“The kind of human being we are is more important at the end of the day. Humility, commitment and discipline are the qualities that academicians and educationists aspire to instill in the mind of the students,” the chief minister said.
