SHILLONG: The KSU central executive committee will organise a sit-in demonstration in the city on September 19 against the death of border resident Tyngshain Mukhim.
The union expressed anger over the recent incidents in the border areas of Ri Bhoi, West Khasi Hills and West Jaintia Hills.
“These incidents included the arrest of Waheh Chnong of Block-I and destruction of houses in West Khasi Hills as well as the house belonging to Shadalin Lyngdoh in Ri Bhoi. The Assam police also destroyed a school at Khlieh Umwang,” a KSU statement said.
The sit-in will be at the Additional Secretariat parking lot from 11 am to 3 pm.
Mukhim was assaulted by Romesh Thapa following a scuffle at Umsohphoh village under Block-II in the Ri Bhoi border area.
The victim sustained grievous injuries and was shifted to NEIGRIHMS and later his relatives took him back to Khlieh Umwang. However, three days after the assault, the victim succumbed to his injuries.
