Awareness program for farmers on PMFBY, iTeams held

TURA: A day-long awareness programme for the farmers on Prime Minister’s Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) and 1917 iTeams as well as training on vegetable cultivation and marketing was organized by the District Horticulture Office, South West Garo Hills at Rerapara C&RD block headquarter, Rerapara on Friday last.

Over 100 farmers from the area including members of the Manchak Integrated Village Society, Dengnakpara participated in the awareness-cum-training programme.

District Horticulture Officer, Ampati, N. Ch. Sangma, while highlighting the objectives of the programme, informed that the farmers from the area and the members of the  Society will start Rabi (winter) vegetable cultivation from this year within Rerapara Block, for which the department would provide them assistance through Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH) scheme.

The day-long training session was conducted by HDO, Ampati, S.A. Sangma and Deputy Project Director, ATMA C. R. Marak and was followed by an interaction session during which the officials responded to the queries raised by the farmers.
