Missing girl returns home
SHILLONG: A 22-year-old girl from Laitumkhrah who was reported to have gone missing on Tuesday morning came back home. When contacted, police confirmed that she came back home after she went to Sohra with her friends. Posts about her missing were also shared in social media.
2 injured in road mishap in Shillong
SHILLONG: Two persons were injured when their vehicle lost control and hit concrete bags on the roadside. The victims identified as Megashri Sen (16) and Sanjay Chakraborty (30) sustained injuries and were shifted to Shillong Civil Hospital by 108 Lawmali base ambulance.
19-yr-old delivers baby in ambulance
SHILLONG: A baby was born in an ambulance in West Khasi Hills on Tuesday. Nongstoin Civil Hospital doctor on duty referred a pregnancy case with prolonged labor. However, on reaching Wanthiang, the patient identified as Ridalin Thongni (19) went into severe labor pain for which EMT Barisha of 108 Nongstoin ambulance conducted the delivery and a baby girl was born around 6:20 pm.
BWWA day celebrated
SHILLONG: The BSF Frontier Headquarter, Shillong, celebrated the BSF Wives Welfare Association (BWWA) Day on the Umpling campus on Tuesday. BWWA is a society registered with Registrar of Societies Delhi. It was established in 1992. Renu Sharma, wife of DG BSF is the president of this society. The programme kicked off with welcome speech by chief guest Chitra Nayal, wife of DIG/PRO, Sh U K Nayal. Families of all BSF Battalions, Sectors and Ftr HQ BSF Meghalaya attended the event. The programme covered wide canvas of activities like cooking competition, anchoring competition, fashion show and others.
RKM Sohra charity in 21 villages
NONGSTOIN: The Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama Cherrapunjee Sohra distributed clothes among the poor from 21 villages and different localities of Lawse – Sohparu area. The programme was held on the school premises of SSA Sohparu. MDC of Nongstoin, L G Nongsiej graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and inaugurated the programme. The village headmen of all 21 villages attended the programme along with the poor and distress families.
Tura school celebrates golden jubilee
TURA: The golden jubilee celebration of the Nivedita Girls’ School was held at the Tura District Auditorium recently. The school which was first established in the year 1968 is located in the heart of Tura town. West Garo Hills District School Education Officer (DSEO), B G Momin was the chief guest on the occasion while Sub Divisional School Education Officer (SDSEO), G D Sangma was the Guest of Honor. During the celebration, former teachers were felicitated for their dedicated and priceless services towards the establishment of the school.
