SHILLONG: Former South Tura MLA, John Leslee Sangma, has sought an inquiry from the West Garo Hills district administration on alleging overcharging by the Meghalaya Transport Corporation.
The former MLA said that he has received numerous complaints about Meghalaya Transport Corporation charging Rs 9 extra per ticket from the counter itself from passengers traveling from Tura to Shillong.
“After receiving several complaints, I sent some of my men to ask for the ticket price and I was told that it is Rs 371 but they were charging Rs 380; a fact that was proved after I bought a ticket at Rs 380 instead of Rs 371,” the legislator said on Wednesday.
The former MLA in a memo to the Deputy Commissioner has demanded inquiry into the matter and also sought strict action against those responsible for this misconduct.
Leslee also asked the Deputy Commissioner to find out how much money had been collected through overcharging. He also said that he would soon file an RTI regarding the matter.
