SHILLONG: NPP leader Prestone Tynsong said on Wednesday that the party will try to reach out to veteran leader DD Lapang to join its fold.
Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, the deputy chief minister said while the party will approach Lapang, it will be up to him to make a choice as other political parties may also get in touch with him.
Tynsong, who quit the Congress ahead of the February 27 Assembly polls, said he had met the AICC leaders in the past to express various grievances of the state MLAs, including the leadership issue, but in vain.
According to Tynsong, he had also conveyed to the AICC the need to call a meeting with state leaders, including PN Syiem, after the government passed the bill barring MLAs to contest the district council polls.
However, Tynsong said the AICC did not listen to the grievances of many members resulting in the exodus of several legislators.
