Poacher arrested in Ri Bhoi

Nongpoh: A hardcore poacher identified as Hending Rani was arrested from Umladoh village in Ri Bhoi by the Wildlife Department recently.
Rani, a resident of Nongkynrih village, was also involved in several crimes in the past.
Sources stated that Rani was seen carrying raw Sambar meat near Umladoh village in close proximity to the Nongkhyllem Wildlife Sanctuary – a protected area in which hunting is strictly prohibited.
A Single Barrel Muzzle Loading (SBML) gun and 4kgs of raw Sambar meat were recovered from his possession.
Rani has been booked under the Wildlife Protection Act.
